GoldStar Events- Half-price or less tickets to shows, tours, and other events in Los Angeles, Orange County, the Bay Area, Silicon Valley, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Chicago.

Woot!- A website with one great (usually electronics) bargain per day.

Coupons-

  • Savings Mania- Links to printable coupons for online (Amazon) and stores you may use, such as Banana Republic and CVS drug stores.
  • Wow-Coupons- I see coupons listed for big stores like Best Buy, Borders, RadioShack, Sharper Image, Walden Books
  • CouponMountain- Lots of Dell Computer coupons, plus Old Navy and Target.

DailyCandy- Localized daily emails about shopping. The featured items are generally girly and not often cheap, but occasionally you'll learn about something (or somewhere) really cool.

Flavorpill- Weekly emails about local (in several major cities) club, music, and other cultural and entertainment events. These guys know their stuff and always point out the hottest shows in town.

Sound Money Tips- Useful daily tips on things like buying a printer, saving on DVD rentals, and online banking.

Leisure Team Productions- The people who brought you Time Off! The Unemployed Guide to San Francisco are about to bring you Time Off! The Upside to Downtime. They are good people and the book is surprisingly helpful even for a hippy-hater like me.

Clublife- This is an anonymous blog by a bouncer in New York. One of my favorite lines: "This is reflected in my impression of [the women's] bathroom, which, in diametric opposition to the image formed by the average male customer, is nothing more than a filthy, vile cathouse, where pointless, brainless club whores engage in fierce competition for their opportunity to monopolize the stalls and sinks."

Dealazon- A site that lists the best deals on Amazon.com by percent off. (site found via Lifehacker)

Apartment Therapy- A NYC-based apartment design and decorating blog mostly of things you can't afford, but they certainly can inspire.

Last Night's Party- This site won't save you any money at all. It's just pictures hot hipsters getting naked and throwing down.

Generation Debt- The Village Voice's ongoing series about poor folks like us. Links to columns by Anya Kamenetz.
