“Howdy, Camper!” my favorite bartender shouts when I walk into my favorite watering hole. Before I have a chance to say hello, he’s pouring my favorite drink, extra-strong like I like it, and it will be on the house. I’m a regular here, and that has its advantages.
Becoming a regular at a bar is great for a lot of reasons. First, the social ones: It’s depressing to walk into a place where everyone is paired up chatting in little groups and you end up sitting in the corner crying into your beer. But when you’re a regular, you’ll always know a minimum of one person who will be at the bar (the bartender), so you can go there by yourself without the built-in comfort zone of your usual party posse. You’ll also get to know the other regulars over time and have them to chat with as well. The other huge reward for regulars is free or cheap drinks that come in many different forms. I read about this website, which compares duty-free prices for different airports. That way you can tell when you are getting a good deal (on cigarettes) and when you're not (on Toblerone).

Here's a tip that came from a friend. I don't order much from Amazon so it's not terribly useful for me (mostly because I hate paying postage and sometimes packages get stolen from my ghetto apartment), but hopefully it will be for you. Especially you bloggers. Thanks Dennis!
You know that Amazon Associates program where you can add links to their products to your website or blog or whatever? And then if suckers buy the product you link to, or any other product they go to once they’ve entered Amazon through your link, you earn coinage? http://associates.amazon.com/gp/associates/join/104-1233222-8852724 Well, I discovered a neat trick. I order from Amazon a lot - mostly cheap, used CDs that I burn onto my computer & then re-sell through Amazon so I end up paying very little, or sometimes turn a profit. One time I clicked on an Amazon link from my blog & ordered some stuff. Low & behold, I earned money on my own purchases! Needless to say, I buy my own stuff this way every time now & generate a 4% referral fee to myself. Hot tip, right? Saturday, June 03, 2006Oh look, another article I wrote
Looky here. I wrote another personal finance column. This one is about the One Red Paperclip guy, and figuring out what objects or talents you have of value to trade. It asks hard-hitting questions like:
Is an artsy doorknob better than a fish pen? Would you rather have a yearÂs free rent or an afternoon hanging out with Alice Cooper?Read the rest here... RSS and Atom Feeds: Use this address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/RockStarBlog
